How can I pair my phone with the Apptimize dashboard?

Development Builds

For development builds, your device will pair automatically to the dashboard when the app is open (in the foreground). Apptimize matches the application key you used to initialize Apptimize in your app with the one in the dashboard to verify the connection.

Signed/Production Builds

For a release-signed build (i.e. apps downloaded from the AppStore or PlayStore or circulated internally using Testflight, AppCenter, etc.), you will need a pairing token to connect with the dashboard.

To obtain the pairing token and pair your device to the dashboard, follow these steps:

1. Open the application on your device (phone/simulator/iPad).
2. Generate a pairing token for your device by triggering a 'Knock' gesture 4 times within 20 seconds. You can perform a Knock gesture by backgrounding and reopening your app.
3. A pairing token will be generated and copied to your clipboard. Paste the token to a notepad or any other application in your device.
4. In the dashboard, when you launch the visual editor or Preview Variants, click Add Device and add your token as shown in the images below.

Note: Pairing tokens expire in 1 hour.

SDKs older than 3.7.5 on Android and 3.4.7 on iOS  

To obtain a Pairing Token for your app open the Apptimize dashboard, go to your Organization Details, then click on the app for which you need the Pairing Token. It will expand and you can find the pairing token listed below the Name field.

Manage Devices

You can navigate to Manage --> Devices in your dashboard to view currently active devices and pair new devices.
